Project Waterfall delivers new wells in Tanzania
(11/01/2012)
Project Waterfall, the charitable component of UK Coffee Week™, has reached another milestone in Tanzania’s Mbulu District with the installation of three new shallow wells. The hand-drilled wells were completed in late November 2011, just in time for the wet season when traditional water sources usually become contaminated with rainwater run-off. These new wells will serve approximately 900 people and will better protect the communities from water borne diseases, such as diarrhea and typhoid.
In partnership with WaterAid, Project Waterfall is able to provide some of the poorest and most marginalized communities in Tanzania with access to safe water, good sanitation and hygiene education. The current project is being implemented by WaterAid’s local partner organisation, Diocese of Mbulu Development Department (DMDD) and would not have been possible without the overwhelming contributions from consumers, sponsors and supporters during UK Coffee Week 2011.
UK Coffee Week 2012 aims to raise even more funds to continue this great work in Tanzania. Further information on
