Continuing our countdown of the top 10 independent coffee shop fundraisers for UK Coffee Week 2017 is the amazing team at @kaffeinelondon on Great Titchfield Street who came in 3rd. The team celebrated their love for coffee and raised funds for clean water by hosting a latte art class on London Coffee Night and by donating a portion from every coffee sold during the week. "[UK Coffee Week] means a lot. It means raising awareness of coffee communities around the world, helping to bring water supplies to areas that need it, [and] bringing people together to celebrate something simple" - Peter Dore-Smith, Kaffeine.

Small farms are the foundation of the coffee industry. About 25 million small coffee farms around the world produce 80% of the worlds coffee. Many of these farms are in rural regions that often struggle with access to basic human rights like the access to clean water and sanitation. Supporting small coffee farmers is essential for the sustainability of coffee. "It is very important that we support coffee farmers across the world and @project_waterfall is a very important element of that and being part of sponsoring that makes me very proud" - Thomas Pietrangeli, managing director @arla.UK #letinthegoodness #coffee #latte #organic #sustainability #cleanwater #coffeefarmers #cows #farms #outdoors
Coffee is extremely important to the people of Ethiopia as it supports the livelihoods of over 15 million people. That's almost 20% of the entire population. But even with the huge production and export of of Ethiopian coffee, many people, including coffee farmers in rural areas still struggle with achieving basic human rights, such as access to clean water. UK Coffee Week campaigns to raise valuable funds to end this struggle with @project_waterfall. Photo by @wateraiduk #Ethiopia #coffee #farming #cleanwater #wateraid #sustainability #Ethiopiancoffee
Coffee farmers face many challenges when it comes to production and yield, especially as weather patterns are becoming unpredictable due to climate change. This has led to many small coffee farmers struggling to support themselves during poor harvest years. Many regions have chosen to meet these challenges by forming coffee co-operatives to help small farmers and their communities handle these difficulties by working together. photo by @waterforpeople #coffee #cherry #farms #coop #community #natural #smallfarms

In many coffee growing regions coffee is actually picked by hand due to the very delicate nature of the coffee cherry. Each and every coffee cherry must be inspected by the coffee farmers to ensure it is ripe and the perfect colour. This makes coffee a very labor intensive crop, in addition to being very water intensive as well. #coffeefarmers #coffee #Uganda #water #handpicked
"I'm excited to know that every coffee I make is putting things back into the coffee growing communities" Just a short clip of all the great things that were going on during #UKCoffeeWeek! We are proud to support @project_waterfall to bring clean water and sanitation to coffee growing communities in need! Coffee is an extremely water intensive crop, requiring 140 litres of water for every cup of coffee produced. However, many of the regions that produce our coffee are also places which continue to struggle with access to the basic right to clean water and sanitation. This is why UK Coffee Week partners with Project Waterfall to give back to the people we rely on for our daily cup of coffee.
