This week's #MondayMotivation comes from the Amhara project in Burie, Ethiopia, made possible with funds raised during UK Coffee Week 2015. This project was completed in 2017 and over 3,000 lives were changed through an underground pipe network to schools and nearby homes. •• In addition to the facilities built in Burie Woreda, 12 committees were established in order to support sustainability and maintenance of the infrastructure. Families in this area were also given coffee and avocado seedlings in order to generate further income to maintain water supply for the future.
It's not just independent coffee shops that take part in UK Coffee Week; many large scale coffee operators, like @cafe2u, get involved too. For them, it's all about helping the communities who need it most.

As we celebrate the amazing £1 million milestone at @projectwaterf, lets look back on the projects that UK Coffee Week supporters have helped fund so far. First up is the Mbulu district in Tanzania. From 2011-2014 UK Coffee Week supporters donated over £235,000, helping around 10,000 people!• • For this project, 6.8km of gravity fed piping was laid, reaching 3 water points in Endalchi. Community Owned Water Supply Organisations (COWSOs) have also been formed through this project, ensuring that communities are trained and the water points are goverened and properly managed.

This year, the support for @project_waterfall during UK Coffee Week has been outstanding, and thousands of coffee operators have helped donate to build water facilities in Jabi Tehnan, in partnership with @wateraiduk.
