Berbere, Ethiopia

The funds raised during UK Coffee Week 2023 will go to Project Waterfall’s new initiative in Berbere Woreda (district), Ethiopia. Bebere is situated at the foot of the Bale mountains over 500km south of Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia. Communities living in Berbere are amongst the highest ranking areas identified by the Government of Ethiopia for prioritisation of climate resilient solutions.

Once completed this 3 year project will:

• Reach over 40,000 people with clean water

• Construct climate resilient and inclusive water supply and sanitation facilities in three healthcare centres and five schools

• Educate and empower community members, especially women, to better understand their rights to clean water and sanitation

• Promote healthy hygiene and sanitation behaviours

Access to clean water, sanitation and hygiene facilities transforms lives. Child mortality rates drop. Girls can spend more time in school. Women can start their own businesses. And dignity is restored to communities.
