How did your Rhode Island journey begin?

Raj, the Managing Director and owner of Rhode Island Coffee began the company as a single coffee shop in The Dome in Altrincham 14 years ago. He had a vision of great coffee, a great atmosphere, great customer service and great people. We now have 7 stores in the North West and we are planning on opening more in the future!

You’ve done amazing things in the past to support Project Waterfall during UK Coffee Week, including a zip lining and all sorts of other activities. What was your favourite?

Samantha, who works in our Warrington store, actually did the zip line, and I’m sure she would be up for doing something similar again!

In previous years Rhode Island has had a silly fancy dress day. Are they themed, and if so what will your theme be this year?

It all depends on what the store managers want to do in their store, and we have seven participating in UK Coffee Week this year! It’s usually any kind of fancy dress. Anything goes!!

What do you enjoy most about UK Coffee Week?

I really love the close interaction with the customers. You get to know them on a more personal level and get them involved with what we are doing that week.

And finally, we have to ask: what are your favourite, go-to types of coffee?

The flat white is a popular coffee at the moment, and is really good. It’s made with two ristretto shots (this is stronger than espresso, as it has less water) which gives the coffee a bolder, richer taste. The flat white is completed using steamed milk with a velvety texture, giving a great opportunity for latte art!

Thanks Adam!

Rhode Island Coffee will be participating across all seven of their stores this year.
